Mattapoisett ,MA : Fairhaven High School senior and friend killed after struck a curb near the intersection on Monday ,May 25th 2015

Two young people from Fairhaven were killed in a crash late Monday night in Mattapoisett.

The car, driven by 21-year-old Brooklyn Cody Rodrigues, struck a curb near the intersection of Mattapoisett Neck Road and Fairhaven Road before flipping over and landing in a front yard. Both the driver and passenger, 18-year-old Meghan Sargent, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The people who live in the house where the wreck happened say the car was wrapped around the tree. Tire marks show the path the car took. They have now tied ribbons around that tree.

One witness says he heard a loud crash, and then nothing. He ran out to help but it was too late.

Fairhaven Schools did tell ABC6 News that grief counselors were at the high school today. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
