Anderson, SC : Upstate moped driver killed after striking pickup truck in Anderson County on Saturday, November 19, 2016

Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal collision between a moped and pickup truck on Saturday.

According the troopers, the collision occurred on Sayre Street in Anderson at 9:46 a.m.

Troopers say a 53-year-old male from Anderson, who was riding a moped, was killed in the collision. The coroner identified the moped driver as Michael D. Pruitt.

The report says, Pruitt was riding a moped on Sayre street when another driver in a pickup truck was traveling east on West Reed Street. The pickup truck driver then crossed over Sayre Street and the moped driver struck the pickup truck, the report said.

The moped driver was not wearing a helmet when he was ejected from the vehicle, troopers say. The coroner said he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He died of blunt force trauma to his head and neck.

The other driver was wearing a seat belt and was not harmed.

The investigation is ongoing, Charges are pending.
