The California Highway Patrol is reporting that a head on collision occurring near Pescadero on Highway 1 before 10 p.m. Friday resulted in major and moderate injuries to the two involved drivers.
The incident occurred half a mile north of the Santa Cruz County line. The CHP originally reported the incident as a fatality but both survived the initial crash. One driver sustained major injuries and was life flighted to a hospital. The other driver received moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital in an ambulance.
CHP Spokesman Art Montiel says one of the vehicles swerved in front of the other but that it wasn't known as of Saturday morning which driver had done the swerving. It was believed that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
