WEST LAFAYETTE, IN : Purdue police investigate crash on U.S. 231 on Monday, November 14th 2016
A two-vehicle accident at 6 p.m. Monday at U.S. 231 and Indiana 26 forced police to close the highways while officers investigated the crash.
Purdue police Sgt. Ryan J. Edwards stationed himself at U.S. 231 and Airport Road, closing off northbound traffic to the crash scene, which was the next light north of that intersection.
Purdue spokesman Brian Zink said a northbound car on U.S. 231 was attempting to turn left onto Indiana 26 at 6 p.m. Monday. The car turned into the path of a southbound passenger truck, and the two collided.
Both drivers were rushed to the hospital by Purdue paramedics. The driver of the car, who has not been identified, suffered serious injuries, Zink said.
U.S. 231 and Indiana 26 were opened at 8:10 p.m.
At press time, the drivers' names have not been released, and Zink said the accident remains under investigation.
