The garbage truck driver involved in a crash which sent two teens to the hospital with critical injuries will face criminal charges.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has issued charges against the 61-year-old Livonia truck driver in Monday’s crash.
The man is expected to turn himself into the 23rd District Court on two counts of reckless driving and two counts of a moving violation, both causing serious impairment of body function.
An arraignment is expected Tuesday according to the Taylor Police Chief.
The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Ecorse and Holland Roads, which kept Ecorse Road closed for two and a half hours during the rescue and crash investigation.
The teenagers were immediately flown by helicopter for medical treatment.
The driver, a 16-year-old boy from Taylor, was taken to the University of Michigan Medical Center. The passenger, 14-year-old Dearborn Heights girl, was taken to Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. Family has identified them as David Cyr and Gianna Kenniburg.
