Sean Letourneau, 33, was killed in a single-car crash on Pine Street on Sunday evening, according to police.
Letourneau, whose identification listed him as a Pawtucket resident, was traveling west on Pine Street when his car veered off the road and hit a utility pole. He was the only occupant in the car, police said.
When police and fire personnel arrived at the scene, at about 8:42 p.m., they reportedly found the car lying on its roof, with utility wires hanging near the car.
National Grid was contacted for assistance, police said, and they cut off power to the area which enabled public safety personnel to approach the car.
Letourneau was partly ejected from the car and was determined dead at the scene, according to authorities
Police said that excessive speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash, but that an investigation was continuing as to other potential contributing factors.
The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Team and State Police Investigators from the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office will be assisting with the investigation.
