Manchester Man Killed in Augusta Car Crash

A Manchester man died Tuesday night after a single-car crash near Western Avenue in Augusta.
Patrick Culleton, 21, died at the scene of the crash after his Nissan Sentra struck a tree about 10 feet off the road at approximately 6 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Jared Mills said Wednesday morning.Culleton was alone in the car.Mills said early reports indicated the car was traveling at high speed before it swerved right to avoid traffic, where the two lanes merge to one. The car collided with a tree in front of a car dealership.

An accident reconstruction was done at the scene, as police shut down Western Avenue to one lane for more than four hours, according to Mills.
Mills said authorities weren’t sure exactly how fast Culleton was going, but witnesses say he was traveling at high speed. Mills said more will be known from the crash once the accident report is completed.
