Honey Creek, IA : Underwood student killed in a single-vehicle crash in Pottawattamie County early Sunday morning, May 1, 2016

A teen at Underwood High School was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.

Emergency responders were notified about 2:40 a.m. of the crash near 185th Street and Sumac Road, northeast of Honey Creek, according to Pottawattamie County Communications.

Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker said a male student was killed. He said he did not believe anyone else was seriously injured in the crash, although other young people were in the vehicle.
“Right now it’s under investigation,” Danker said Sunday around 11:30 a.m. “There were other kids in the car but, from what I understand, not any serious injuries.”

Further details about the crash were not immediately available. The sheriff’s department plans to release more information Monday.
