ROCKFORD, IL : Chase ends in crash on North Avon Street in Rockford on Monday, 13th August 2018

A Rockford man was arrested Monday on multiple criminal charges after police say he crashed an SUV into a parked car, fled on foot, was caught by officers after a short foot chase and then bit a nurse at a hospital while being treated for injuries he sustained in the crash.

Officers spotted 19-year-old Malik Jackson, a known wanted suspect, driving a red SUV at Jefferson and Avon streets about 12:15 p.m. Police chased the SUV north on Avon when the driver failed to pull over, Assistant Deputy Chief Andre Brass said.
