A woman was seriously injured Thursday in a two-vehicle crash near Newport, paramedics said.
New Castle County Paramedics responded to the area of West Newport Pike and Tolliver Drive shortly after 1:25 p.m., according to Paramedic First Class Yvonne T. Russell.
Emergency crews found a two-vehicle crash with one patient confined to the vehicle. Responding fire companies were able to extricate the victim, a 24-year-old female. Russell said the victim had head and right shoulder injuries. She was transferred in critical condition to Christiana Hospital by a Belvedere Fire Company.
Responding agencies also included Cranston Heights Fire Company, Mill Creek Fire Company and Minquas Fire Company.
Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.
