The Parkway East’s outbound lanes have fully reopened following a multi-vehicle crash that forced a complete eastbound closure for several hours from the area near Rodi Road to Monroeville.

Around 4:30 p.m. Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Melinda Bondarenka said authorities hoped to completely clear the crash site by about 5 p.m.

Seven vehicles were involved in the accident on Interstate 376, Trooper Bondarenka said. There were minor injuries, and one person was taken to the hospital, she said.

The accident also affected inbound traffic for a time, but it is now moving without restrictions.

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 376 were closed between Exit 81 and Exit 84A near Monroeville.

One outbound lane was reopened by mid-afternoon after being, though motorists were cautioned to expect “extremely heavy delays,” according to a PennDOT spokesman as workers continued to remove debris from the roadway near Laurel Road.

The crash was reported at about 12:10 p.m.
