Chicago, IL : 2 police officers in serious condition after rollover crash on Far South Side on Monday, 3rd February, 2020
A Chicago police squad car was struck early Monday on the Far South Side, sending two officers to a hospital in serious condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
A marked police Ford Explorer was driving southbound on Yates Boulevard at 12:17 a.m. when a 2005 Buick LaCrosse heading eastbound on 85th Street hit the police car at the intersection in the 8500 block of South Yates Boulevard in the South Chicago neighborhood, police said.
The crash caused the squad car to roll on its side, police said. A female and a male officer were inside the vehicle.
They were both taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where their conditions were stabilized, Fire Department officials said.
