HADLEY, NY : Former Corinth police chief killed in crash on Wednesday, September 20th 2017
A former village of Corinth police chief and Saratoga County sheriff’s deputy was killed Wednesday in a one-vehicle crash on Antone Mountain Road in Hadley.
Police say Rodney F. Niedziejko died when his northbound vehicle, a 2003 Ford tow truck, left the east side of the roadway and struck a tree.
The crash, which police responded to at 6:19 a.m., occurred on a sharp bend a short distance from South Shore Road.
There were no other occupants in the truck and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor, police said.
After leaving Corinth Police Department, Niedziejko was a sheriff’s deputy from January 2000 to January 2010.
“Rodney was a guy that was liked by everyone,” Sheriff Michael Zurlo said. “He always had your back and was a valued member of the Sheriff’s Office.”
Corinth and Greenfield fire departments and Jessup’s Landing EMS assisted at the scene.
