KINGSPORT, TN : A single-vehicle wreck on East Center Street on Tuesday, January, 16th 2018

A single-vehicle wreck on East Center Street killed a Johnson City man on Tuesday night, according to police.The crash occurred at about 9:45 in the 1100 block. Though wintry precipitation had begun to fall at the time of the incident, Kingsport police don’t believe it played a factor.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Kingsport Police Department, an eastbound 1991 Honda Accord was driven by Joshua C. McAllister, 41. For unknown reasons, the car suddenly veered left into oncoming traffic, then struck a utility pole in front of Minute Market.

First responders found McAllister trapped in the car and unresponsive. He was extricated and transported to Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, but pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The crash remains under investigation by the KPD Patrol Division and Traffic Unit.
