ROLLA, KS : 14-year-old boy dies, 3 hospitalized after southwest Kansas crash on Wednesday, 25th November, 2020

A 14-year-old Kansas boy has died and three other people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 1 p.m. at County Road 24 and J Blvd. in Rolla, which is in Morton County. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 15-year-old was driving a GMC pickup eastbound and failed to stop at a stop sign. The pickup collided with a northbound Ford Mustang in the intersection. The pickup overturned and hit a utility pole.

A 14-year-old passenger in the truck, Jace Schwindt, died at the scene. He was from Boise City, Oklahoma. The driver and an 18-year-old passenger in the pickup were transported to the county hospital.

The driver of the Mustang was also taken to the hospital. He was the only person wearing a seat belt.
