PRINCETON, WV : Ten transported after four-vehicle crash in Princeton on Friday, December 9th 2016
Ten people were transported to local hospitals Friday evening after a four-vehicle crash halted traffic on Oakvale Road in Princeton.
The crash was reported approximately 4:55 p.m. on Oakvale Road near the intersection of Route 104 and Route 20, also known as the Athens Crossroads, near the Grant’s Supermarket at that location. Patrolman E.C. Nunn of the Princeton Police Department said four vehicles were traveling west on Oakvale Road when they came to the intersection’s stop light.
Three stopped vehicles – a Ford Explorer, a Toyota Highlander and a Ford F-150 pickup truck – were then hit by a Budget rental truck, causing a chain-reaction crash, Nunn said.
Nine of the people who were injured were transported to Princeton Community Hospital and the Bluefield Regional Medical Center, he said. Their conditions were not available.
Five people were aboard the rental truck. Four were riding in the front cab and one was riding in the trailer. One of the men riding in the cab was seriously injured and flown by helicopter from a landing zone set up at nearby Hunnicutt Stadium, Nunn said. He did not know which hospital was the helicopter’s destination.
The names of the injured people were not available Friday and the investigation was continuing. The Princeton Rescue Squad and the Princeton Fire Department were also dispatched to the scene.
