Indianapolis, IN : One person dead, one injured when 2 SUVs collide head-on on Madison Avenue in Indianapolis on Wednesday morning, March 30, 2016

One person was killed and another hospitalized after a head-on crash on the south side Wednesday morning.

The crash happened when a green sport utility vehicle heading south crossed the center line and crashed into a blue SUV on Madison Avenue north of Stop 11 Road at about 7:10 a.m., according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The man driving the blue SUV died. A young woman driving the green SUV was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in serious condition.

Investigators do not think alcohol was a factor but police said the woman's blood will be tested, which is standard for all crashes that cause serious injury or death.
