A 20-year-old Milford man was killed after an early morning crash in Waterford on Monday.
Waterford police were called at 12:48 a.m. Monday to a report of a pickup truck that lost control on Hatchery Road and crashed into the Clinton River.
The pickup’s passenger, a 22-year-old Waterford man, was conscious and speaking as he was pulled from the vehicle by emergency responders.
The Milford man was the driver, police said, and he was taken to a local hospital after being extricated, where he was pronounced dead.
The witness told police the pickup, a 2007 GMC Sierra, was eastbound on Hatchery Road and lost control as it came out of the curve of the road just west of Edmore Road. After crossing the center line, it struck a construction solar-powered trailer mounted arrow board and fence line before entering the river at the Fish Hatchery.
The pickup rolled over onto its roof and became partially submerged, police said in their statement.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
