A South Carolina state trooper is recovering after a motorist plowed into his parked cruiser along Interstate 85.
Greenville County sheriff’s deputies said Sunday the motorist faces DUI and other charges after the crash late Saturday. A Highway Patrol spokeswoman did not respond to questions about the condition of the unidentified trooper, who deputies said received hospital treatment for minor injuries.
Greenville County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ryan Flood said in an email at the time of the accident the trooper was parked alongside northbound I-85 at White Horse Road, but outside the traffic lanes.
Deputies say a 2003 Honda Accord driven by 23 year-old Amber Faye Hamilton drifted off the highway before slamming into the highway patrol cruiser. Authorities say Hamilton also was charged with marijuana possession and other charges.
