Fort Morgan, CO : A 54-year-old Fort Morgan woman died in a crash on Wednesday, December, 6th 2017
A 54-year-old Fort Morgan woman died in a crash that involved two vehicles on Interstate 76 early Wednesday morning.
According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper and Public Information Officer Josh Lewis, Lequeta "Vickey" Roth was declared dead at the scene of the crash.
Lewis said state patrol was still investigating the accident Wednesday but Roth's husband, Kenneth, said Roth was hit by an oncoming vehicle as she and Kenneth were helping another motorist who had hit a deer and was stopped in the roadway. That oncoming vehicle also collided with the vehicle that hit the deer.
The remains of that deer could be seen lying a short distance from a GMC Arcadia that had sustained serious damage as troopers investigated the accident late Wednesday morning.
Lewis said he did not yet have access to details about the driver of the oncoming vehicle and any other individuals who might have been involved in the crash when the Times spoke with him Wednesday morning.
According to Lewis, the crash was called in to state patrol at about 6:06 a.m. Wednesday morning. The crash occurred in the westbound lanes of I-76 near mile marker 63, which is about three miles west of Wiggins.
Lewis identified the other vehicle involved in the crash as a 2007 Dodge. However, he said it was not yet clear from the information he had available Wednesday morning which car had hit the other.
The GMC Arcadia could be still seen in the center median facing east as troopers investigated the crash at around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. It had sustained serious damages to all sides but particularly its rear. The Dodge appeared to have already been moved from the scene by that time.
Lewis said he did not have the information to confirm "one way or the other" if the Arcadia had rolled over.
