Geneva, IL : 19-year-old Northbrook man killed in I-88 crash on Friday, December, 15th 2017
A 19-year-old man from Northbrook was killed in a four-vehicle crash that occurred at 10:37 a.m. Dec. 15 on I-88 eastbound just west of Route 47 near Sugar Grove.
Samuel Gradman, who was driving a blue 2003 Infiniti, was identified as the person killed in the crash, according to a news release from Illinois State Police 15th District.
Contrary to earlier reports that three vehicles were involved, the release stated there were actually four.
According to the release, the left lane of I-88 eastbound was closed for maintenance repair.
Gradman failed to yield to construction equipment and struck a 2015 Ford, which then lost control and struck two parked vehicles, a 2017 Ford truck and a tollway vehicle, the release stated.
The driver of the 2015 Ford was driven by a 49-year-old man from Malta who was transported to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, the release stated.
The crash remains under investigation, the release stated.
