Pender County, NC : Hampstead woman dies in two-vehicle crash on US 17 near Union Bethel Road on Thursday night, July 14, 2016
A Hampstead woman was killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle crash on US 17 in Pender County Thursday night.
According to State Highway Patrol officials, the accident occurred around 10:35 p.m. on US 17 near Union Bethel Road.
According to the SHP, Gregory Blanks, 51, of Hampstead was driving a 2003 Ford SUV and traveling northbound on US 17. He attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway and collided with a 1998 Pontiac driven by Brody Wayne Bradley, 22, of Surf City.
Blanks' vehicle flipped on its roof and came to rest on the left side of the road as a result of the crash. Bradley's vehicle came to a rest on the right side.
Brittany Ann Tighe, 21, of Hampstead was a passenger in Bradley's vehicle and was killed in the collision.
Blanks and Bradley were transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers suspect Blanks was using alcohol at the time of the crash and charges are pending.
