One man is dead after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle.
The crash happened in the 4800 block of Carolina Beach Road, just south of the Wilmington Moose Lodge, around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Highway Patrol troopers closed both southbound lanes on Carolina Beach Road for hours Saturday to investigate.
A jeep wrangler made a u-turn at the crossover near Riggs Trail, then collided with a motorcycle, according to Sgt. Cannady with Highway Patrol.
The driver of the motorcycle, Lance Smith, tried to brake but was unable to stop in time.
He was ejected from the bike just before it hit the jeep.
Smith was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Dylan McCormick, the driver of the jeep, suffered no injuries.
He was cited with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
