SHREVEPORT, LA : One person was taken to the hospital after a head-on collision on April, wednesday 26th 2017

One person was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after a head-on collision in Shreveport.

It happened just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of Fern Avenue and East 70th Street.

Police say a pickup truck going westbound on East 70th left the roadway and hit a traffic light at a high rate of speed. The truck then launched into and crashed into a Ford Focus stopped at the light going northbound on Fern.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Willis-Knighton Pierremont with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Focus had minor damage and the driver was not injured, according to police.

One northbound lane of Fern at the intersection was blocked as crews worked to clear the crash.
