Athens, GA : 3 pedestrian accidents in Athens on Monday, 9th September 2019
An Athens woman was seriously injured Monday night when she was hit by a car and two other pedestrians were killed when they were hit by vehicles over a three-day period in Athens.
In the wake of three pedestrian accidents, Athens-Clarke police released a statement Tuesday urging pedestrians to use caution when crossing roads.
The latest accident occurred at about 11:20 p.m. Monday on College Station Road near Research Drive, where police said Mary Whiteman, 26, of Athens was crossing the road when she was hit by an eastbound 2009 Nissan Altima.
Police said Whiteman, who was not using a crosswalk, was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital.
A Dallas, Texas, man was killed at about 6:40 a.m. Monday on Newton Bridge Road, according to police.
