Missoula, MT : 24-year-old Kelita Marie Strope died and two others injured in two-vehicle head-on accident on the Reserve Street Bridge on Saturday morning, February 21, 2015
The Missoula County Sheriff's Department has released the name of a woman who died in a head-on crash on the Reserve Street bridge early Saturday.
Kelita Strope, 24, was transported to Providence St. Patrick Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Sgt. Travis Welsh, public information officer with the Missoula Police Department, said an emergency call came in just after 6:30 a.m. Saturday for a head-on collision between a compact car and a pickup truck on the bridge.
On Saturday, Welsh said investigators believed the northbound car crossed over the center line and hit the pickup truck. No new information about the crash was available Monday.
Welsh said once lead investigator Guy Baker finishes his report, he will refer the case to the Missoula County Attorney's Office. It's still unknown whether charges will be filed in the case.
"The entire investigation would focus on what caused the crash, whether it was environmental, whether it was the driver or whether it was mechanical in nature," Welsh said.
The 25-year-old male driver of the car, as well as the 57-year-old male driver of the truck, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at St. Patrick Hospital. Welsh said it is believed that all three people involved in the wreck were from Missoula.
Reserve Street was closed from South Third Street West to Mullan Road for about six hours Saturday while law enforcement investigated the scene, fully reopening shortly after noon.
