Bryan, TX : Texas teen crashes into police car while taking topless selfie on Wednesday, 26th October, 2016
It is not a good idea to drive while intoxicated. It is also not a good idea to use a hand-held device to take a selfie to post on Snapchat while driving. Police allege a 19-year-old Texas teen was doing both when she crashed into a parked police car.Around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, an officer with the Bryan Police Department arrived on scene after responding to a disturbance call. The officer parked his car with the flashing lights activated and left the vehicle to interview witnesses about the disturbance. While talking to witnesses, he heard “a vehicle braking very hard.” He ran over and discovered an Acura SUV had crashed into the back of his cruiser.
the officer went over to the SUV driven by Miranda Kay Rader, 19, a student at Texas A&M. He noticed the woman's bra was unfastened and she was in the process of putting her black blouse on. When he asked her why she was not fully dressed, she told him she had taken a selfie at a red light to send to her boyfriend on Snapchat. Rader also told the officer she was returning to her dorm room after drinking wine with some friends. She said she drank about a quarter of a bottle of wine at her friend’s house.
While searching the SUV, the officer found an open bottle of wine in the centre console. Rader was given field sobriety tests and after failing the tests, she was required to provide blood samples.
Rader, who was not injured in the crash, was charged with driving while intoxicated with an open container and being a minor in possession of alcohol. Under Texas law, a DUI charge carries more serious penalties if an open container of alcohol is found in the vehicle.
The university freshman was booked into the Brazos County Jail and was released after she posted $20,000 bail.
