Texarkana, AR : Man dies in I-30 crash on Monday, February 6th 2017
One person was killed Monday after a vehicle rear ended an 18-wheeler on eastbound Interstate 30 early Monday afternoon according to police.
The victim's identity had not been released late Monday.
The accident happened about 1 p.m. Monday at the 184 mile marker. Traffic was diverted between Highway 259 on the west side and Highway 561 on the east side.
The span of interstate between these two highways was closed for more than two hours.
Authorities reopened a 7-mile stretch of westbound Interstate 30 and one lane of eastbound I-30 about 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Initial reports of the accident being a hazardous materials scene proved to be untrue. The substance believed to be hazardous was fluid on the road from the pickup, officials said.
The accident remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Officers from Bowie County Sheriff's Office, and DeKalb Police Department assisted in traffic control.
Local firefighters also responded to the accident.
