Jensen Beach, FL : One dead after two-vehicle crash in Jensen Beach on Friday afternoon, August 19, 2016
One person died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol traffic site.
The person was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with traumatic injuries Friday afternoon, said Chris Stabile, spokesman for Martin County Fire Rescue.
The crash closed two southbound lanes and one northbound lane on U.S. 1 at Southeast Westmoreland Boulevard about 8:30 p.m., said Todd Schimelfanick, traffic unit sergeant for Martin County Sheriff's Office. The lanes were still closed at 11 p.m.
Fire crews were dispatched to the crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV about 7:42 p.m., Stabile said.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, FHP spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky said Friday afternoon. Wysocky was not available for comment on the victim's condition Friday evening.
