Springfield, OH : Fatal, fiery crash in Clark County on Wednesday October 21 2015

Springfield authorities are treating a Wednesday afternoon crash as a fatal fire investigation.
Authorities report the male driver of a gray Dodge Durango died instantly on the scene after his car was fully engulfed by flames as he drove down Main Street.
Witnesses report that they man’s SUV filled with smoke going down Main Street towards Fourth Avenue. Eventually that same vehicle was completely on fire.
It crashed into a car, ultimately landing into the parking lot of the nearby Chakares Cinema 10.
The man behind the burning wheel tried to drag himself out of the car to safety. Bystanders tell police several people tried to help, but ultimately the man would succumb to the flames and his injuries.
It is possible that the car could be on fire and the occupant not know,” Springfield Assistant Fire Chief Brian Miller explained. “As I understood the bystanders suggested that the passenger compartment was full of smoke.”
A witness, Robert Kelly told 2 NEWS, “It went up pretty quick because we — we just left here to go to Krogers and like I said we just live 200 yards from where we were standing so it had to have happened pretty quick.”
Officials plan to examine the evidence the next several days and hope to identify the man killed.
