A motorcyclist killed in a crash Friday afternoon has been identified as a 79-year-old Utah man.
David R. Free "was riding a three-wheeled motorcycle traveling northbound on Highway 18 when he failed to negotiate a curve," the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's Office said, "and left the roadway approximately two miles south of Camp Rock Road in Lucerne Valley."
The incident was reported at 4:13 p.m.
Other riders in Free's party called for emergency medical aid.
Free was taken to the emergency room at St. Joseph Health, St. Mary, where he was pronounced dead 5:29 p.m. Friday.
California Highway Patrol was investigating the crash.
