Milwaukee, WI : Motorist killed, highway worker critically injured in single-car crash on State Highway 10/114 in the Town of Harrison on Monday, April 27, 2015

A motorist was killed and a highway worker injured Monday when a car crashed into a road sweeper in Calumet County, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The crash was reported shortly before 2 p.m. on eastbound State Highway 10/114 in the Town of Harrison, according to a news release from the state patrol.

According to the release, the sweeper was on the shoulder of the road behind two road graders when it was struck from behind by a 2009 Ford Fusion driven by a 28-year-old man from Appleton, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The driver of the car was killed and the operator of the road sweeper, a 50-year-old man from Hilbert, was flown by helicopter to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the release.
