Memphis, TN : Teenager injured after hit-and-run crash in Hyde Park on Wednesday evening, April 29, 2015

A hit-and-run crash sent a teenager to the hospital on Wednesday evening.

According to police, the teen was riding his bicycle near the intersection of Sanders Avenue and Maplewood Street when a car hit him and drove away.

A woman who owns a red Chevrolet HHR saw the news report on TV. She went outside to take a look at her car and noticed there was damage to the front fender, hood, and windshield. After the woman asked her daughter about the damage, she said her daughter finally admitted that she took the car without asking and accidentally hit the boy who "drove out in front of her" while wearing headphones.

The woman's daughter said she kept driving because she was scared.

The girl was issued a juvenile summons for reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, not having a driver's license. She was released into her mother's custody.
