Waxhaw, NC : Driver charged with DWI after tractor-trailer crash on Highway 200 at Huey Road on Wednesday night, January 28, 2015
A driver was charged with DWI after a tractor-trailer rolled over and burst into flames in an accident on Wednesday night, according to officials.
The crash happened around 11 p.m. on Highway 200 at Huey Road. Troopers say a pick-up truck was driving the opposite direction when it crossed the center line, hit the tractor-trailer, and caused the semi to roll over into the southbound lanes.
The driver of the tractor-trailer jumped out and is okay. The roadway was shut down for several hours while crews worked the scene.
Troopers told WBTV that the driver of the pickup truck was under the influence of several drugs, including black tar heroin, methadone, oxycodone and roxicodone.
They said that 911 received several calls about the driver driving recklessly before the accident.
That driver, whose name has not been released, was charged with DWI.
