Terre Haute, IN : Terre Haute man, 44, dies in crash on Sunday, December 4th, 2016

A Terre Haute man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Old Maple Avenue Sunday night, according to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim has been identified as Clifford Mize, 44, of Terre Haute.

About 8:10 p.m. Sunday, sheriff’s deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 7200 block of Old Maple Avenue in eastern Vigo County.

An investigation shows that Mize was driving a pick-up truck west on Old Maple Avenue when it left the road and struck several trees. Mize was pronounced dead at the scene.

It does not appear that a seat belt was in use at the time of the crash, said John Moats, chief deputy. Toxicology results are pending.

Indiana State Police and the Seelyville Fire Department assisted.
