Two Harbors, MN : Two teens injured in ATV accident near Silver Bay on Friday, July 8, 2016

A 17-year-old Duluth teen was airlifted in critical condition after the all-terrain vehicle he was driving struck a tree near Silver Bay.

Lake County Sheriff Carey Johnson said that the ATV accident on Birdshot Road off of Lax Lake Road was reported at 12:48 p.m. Friday. The boy was airlifted to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth while the ATV's 17-year-old female passenger was transported via Lake County Ambulance to the medical center with a leg injury, Johnson said.

The names of those involved in the crash were not immediately released. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
