Texarkana,TX : Police seek witnesses to fatal vehicle accident on March, Tuesday 20th 2018
Texarkana, Texas, Police Department is looking for witnesses to Tuesday's fatal crash on Richmond Road.
According to police spokesman Shawn Vaughn, there is talk of a third vehicle that left the scene of the accident, and police would like information on it.
"Detectives want to talk to any possible witnesses. They are still trying to get all of the facts together," said Shawn Vaughn, police spokesman.
LaQuonia Hopkins, 30, was killed about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when another vehicle struck the driver's side of her car at the intersection of Richmond Road and Wheeler Street. Hopkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation has determined that Kalob Doyle, 25, of Texarkana, Ark., was southbound on Richmond Road in a 2000 Ford Mustang. Hopkins, who was eastbound on Wheeler Street in a 2003 Toyota Avalon, was attempting to cross Richmond when she was struck by Doyle, according to police.
Hopkins' vehicle suffered extensive damage, and she had to be extracted by emergency crews.
Doyle was taken to CHRISTUS St. Michael Health Center, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
No charges have yet been filed in the case, but investigators think that excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash, Vaughn said.
Hopkins was not wearing a seatbelt, while Doyle was wearing his seatbelt.
Anyone who may have witnessed this crash or have other pertinent information is asked to contact the Police Department at 903-798-3116.
