Memphis, TN : Man critical after being hit by car near Beale Street early Saturday morning, April 9, 2016

A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car on Danny Thomas Boulevard near Beale Street early Saturday morning.

The accident happened just before 3 a.m.

Investigators said a 61-year-old man was taken to Regional Medical Center after he was hit by a car.

Police said the driver told them he was going southbound on Danny Thomas when the man walked in front of his car. He said he was unable to change lanes and hit him.

No charges have been filed. This is an ongoing investigation.
