Ionia, MI : 26-year-old man injured after a car crash near the corner of Stevenson Place on Tuesday afternoon, May 3, 2016

A 26-year-old Ionia man was injured Tuesday afternoon after he drove a car into several trees.

The accident happened at 1:12 p.m. after the car crossed the centerline and jumped the curb while traveling west on Main Street near the corner of Stevenson Place, according to Ionia Department of Public Safety Director Troy Thomas.

The Infiniti Q30 then traveled through a yard before crashing into several trees. Thomas said the man suffered minor injuries and the accident was under investigation. A post from the IDPS Facebook page at 1:40 p.m. said the driver was issued a ticket.

Robin Manshum of Portland said she was in her vehicle on Stevenson Place at stop sign of the intersection when she saw the Infiniti Q30 coming straight towards her.
“It scared me bad,” Manshum said. “It was coming right at me.”

She said she was able to get out way of the car by accelerating her vehicle quickly on to Main Street.
Life EMS Ambulance, Ionia County Central Dispatch 911 and Reed & Hoppes Towing also assisted IDPS in response to the accident.
