Johnstown, PA : Windber man dies in bicycle crash on Friday, 30th March 2018

A Windber man died Friday morning after he crashed into a wall while riding his bicycle, officials said.

Matthew B. Thacker, 22, was riding his bicycle in Scalp Level Borough at around 10:15 a.m. Friday when he lost control on a steep hill and struck a wall in the 400 block of Main Street, according to Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees.

Thacker was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, where he was pronounced dead at 10:55 a.m.

Thacker died of a blunt force trauma injury to the head, according to Lees, who said he has ruled the death an accident.

Thacker was not wearing a helmet, Lees said.
