Vancouver, WA : Woman hurt in ATV crash on Monday, January 2, 2017
The woman injured in an all-terrain vehicle crash east of Battle Ground on Monday is in serious condition.
Investigators said that excessive speed and impairment are suspected causes in the crash that sent Natalya Mazur, 40, of Battle Ground to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland via LifeFlight, Clark County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Fred Neiman said.
The crash was reported shortly before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Northeast 240th Avenue and Berry Road. Her husband, Pavlo Mazur, 43, was driving the ATV southwest on Berry Road when he failed to negotiate a turn, left the roadway and struck a power utility box, according to the sheriff’s office.
The passenger, Natalya Mazur, was thrown from the ATV, “sustained significant injuries” and was air-lifted to the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.
None of the ATV riders were wearing helmets, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators are awaiting toxicology reports before any charges are filed, Neiman said.
