Altamonte Springs, FL : Woman was critically injured in crash on Tuesday September 30th 2014.

Police need the public’s help as they continue to search for a driver they say hit and critically injured a 71-year-old woman while she was crossing the street. The hit-and-run happened about 4:30 Tuesday afternoon as the woman was walking across State Road 436 near Crane’s Roost - from Festival Drive to Hattaway Drive. Police have released surveillance video from a business not far from where the hit-and-run happened. That video shows an SUV speeding past other cars on State Road 436 just after police say the vehicle's driver hit 71-year-old Cynthia Grummond. Grummond was crossing State Road 436 with her 90 year old mother. Grummond’s mother was able to cross – but Grummond was hit by the SUV and critically injured. Investigators say the hit-and-run driver had a green light and was making a left turn onto State Road 436 but did not have a green arrow, so when Grummond and her mother were using this crosswalk here to cross 436 as pedestrians, they had the right of way.Several drivers called 911 and described the SUV as silver colored, and it’s driver as a blonde-haired woman.
