Seabrook, N.H : Maine man involved in hit-and-run crash on I-95 in Seabrook on Tuesday, April 14, 2015
State police say a Maine man caused a crash on Interstate 95 in Seabrook and drove off.
Troopers responded to a report of an accident on I-95 southbound on Tuesday around 11:30 a.m.
Police said a Jeep Cherokee, driven by Mark Boisvert, 34, of Wells, Maine, rear-ended a Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Thomas Winward, 59, of Derry, sending the Hyundai spinning into the guardrail.
According to a witness, Boisvert pulled over into the breakdown lane, but then took off.
The witness followed Boisvert to exit 60 in Salisbury, Massachusetts, where he stopped at a Mobil gas station. His Jeep was overheating due to excessive front-end damage, and he continued to a local auto body repair shop.
After interviewing Boisvert, state police said his side of the story did not match witness accounts or physical evidence from the scene. Police said once the investigation is complete, he will be charged with multiple violations.
Winward was taken to Exeter Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his head and upper body.
As a result of the accident, the high-speed lane was shut down for approximately 45 minutes.
