Portland, OR : 26-year-old Michigan man injuries after he was hit by a car in Northeast Portland on Tuesday night, February 23, 2016
Police identified the pedestrian and driver involved in Tuesday night's Northeast Portland collision that sent a 26-year-old man to the hospital.
Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson, spokesman, said Kyle McGrath of Michigan was parked in a van on Northeast 15th Avenue, just south of Tillamook Street. He remains in critical condition at a hospital after a car driven by Margaret Thurber, 58, hit him, Simpson said.
She remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said.
Officers responded to the incident at 7:06 p.m. Traffic crash investigators learned that McGrath and family members were inside their van when some members got out and crossed 15th and headed west. As McGrath followed and stepped out on the street, Thurber's northbound Chrysler Town and Country hit McGrath.
"Investigators determined that Thurber was not impaired and was driving at or below the posted 25 miles per hour speed limit," Simpson said in a statement to the media.
The investigation continues and once complete will be forwarded to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review.
