Salem, OR : I-5 reopened after closure, 2 crashes on Friday ,12th Friday, 2016
Two crashes one involving a jack-knifed semi-truck, U-Haul truck and 200 gallons of spilled diesel on Interstate 5 south of Salem closed all northbound lanes of the roadway Friday around noon, creating a miles-long traffic jam stretching into Albany, officials said.
The multi-vehicle crashes, which occurred near the Ankeny Hill Road SE exit, blocked both lanes of traffic, said Lou Torres, an Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman. At least one person was injured in the crash.
Traffic was backed up for almost 15 miles, and vehicles were detoured off I-5 at the North Jefferson exit. All lanes reopened around 2:40 p.m., but delays remained into the late afternoon.
