Bay City ,MI : Michigan motorcyclist fleeing police severed at waist after striking utility cable, tree on Monday ,July 6th 2015

A motorcyclist has been severed at the waist during a crash while fleeing police in Bay City, east of Saginaw.

The Bay City Times reports (http://bit.ly/1CW9SvX ) Monday that 47-year-old Christopher Henry struck a curb then a utility pole cable before hitting a tree Sunday night.

State police 1st Lt. David Simon tells the newspaper that resulted in Henry being "cut in half at the waist."

Henry was not wearing a helmet.

Simon says Henry's Harley-Davidson "continued down the road almost two blocks, another 400 feet, and came to rest."

Troopers started the brief chase after seeing the motorcycle speeding and swerving. Simon says the driver accelerated when troopers turned on patrol car lights and sirens.

An autopsy is scheduled and the crash remains under investigation.
