A 28-year-old Dover man died in a head-on collision Saturday when his vehicle collided with another driving the wrong direction in Milford, Delaware State Police said.
Around 1:09 a.m., a 53-year-old Milford man was driving a 2010 Mercedes C30 southbound in the northbound lane of Coastal Highway near Brick Granary Road, police said. The 28-year-old was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Passat northbound, and the vehicles collided, police said.
"After the impact, the Mercedes rotated counter-clockwise and exited the west side of the road where it came to a stop in the grass median," police said. "The Volkswagen rolled onto its roof as it slid off the east side of the road where it came to a stop upside down along a wooded area."
The younger man, while properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries, police said.
The 53-year-old, who was also properly restrained, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
