Killeen, TX : Cove teen dies from injuries in car wreck on Sunday, September 24th 2017
A 15-year-old Copperas Cove teen died after a traffic collision Sunday in Cove, according to local NBC affiliate KCEN.
According to a Texas Department of Transportation crash report after the incident, Dellsen Zayd Kemp was one of three passengers in a 2015 Hyundai Elantra traveling northbound on North Seventh Street when the driver of the vehicle failed to yield to a stop sign and was T-boned by a 2015 Nissan Altima traveling eastbound on West Avenue B.
When medical personnel responded, Kemp was found unresponsive and in and out of consciousness, the report said, and was rushed to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.
The other two passengers and the driver of the Elantra were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.
The front-seat passenger of the Altima was taken to Metroplex Hospital with a head injury.
Two back-seat child passengers in the Altima, a male infant and a 2-year-old boy, were uninjured.
The driver of the Elantra, a 16-year-old girl, was cited for failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign.
The driver and front-seat passenger of the Altima were both cited for not wearing seat belts.
