One child was killed and another was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on the east side of Tucson Wednesday, Sept. 30.
The Tucson Police Department said it happened around 5 p.m. on East Broadway, near Sarnoff Drive.
The TPD said a woman and her two children were in a crosswalk when an light-colored BMW SUV hit both kids. A 9-year-old boy died at the scene and his 10-year-old brother suffered serious injuries.
According to Father Andriy Chirovsky of St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, the boys are Edward and Max Lautaire. Edward is the young man who died. Father Chirovsky said the boys' mother is Valentia Lautaire. She was not injured in the accident.

Witnesses said the driver of the BMW initially slowed down after the crash, but then sped away. The TPD said there were two people in the vehicle and a fuchsia blanket was in the back seat.
