Annapolis, MD : Two critically injured in Severn motorcycle-car crash on Saturday, 15th October 2016

Two people were critically injured Saturday in Severn when a car collided with a motorcycle while making a left turn, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said.

The motorcycle driver, Louis Eugene Manzi, 43, of Severn, and his passenger, Amy Caroline Brim, 27, of Severn, were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with critical injuries, police said.

The driver of the car, Alexander H. Radcliffe III, 83, of Glen Burnie, was taken to Baltimore/Washington Medical Center with minor injuries.

Police responded to a report of a motorcycle collision at the intersection of Quarterfield Road and Westphalia Drive around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

An investigation found the car, a 2003 Hyundai Sonata, made a left turn from Quarterfield Road onto Westphalia Drive into the path of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which was traveling on Quarterfield Road, police said.

Manzi and Brim were ejected from the motorcycle onto the roadway.

Both of their injuries were critical, but Brim is in stable condition, police said Sunday.

The primary cause of the accident is believed to be Radcliffe's failure to yield right of way while making a left turn, police said.

Speed and alcohol were not factors.

An investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to call the investigator, Cpl. Wilson, at 410-222-8753.
